Choosing an enameled pot or a natural clay one?

When choosing a pot, shape and size matter... but the choice of finish is just as crucial. At Poterie Ravel, we offer two main categories: glazed pots and pots in natural clay. Glazed pots are available only at the factory and not on our online store.
A glazed pot is covered with a colored coating, glossy or satin, which provides a refined, contemporary, or bold appearance. It captures light, intensifies colors, and adds a touch of sophistication to your decor. It is perfectly suited for indoor spaces, protected patios, or well-maintained balconies. The glaze also acts as a moisture barrier: the terracotta absorbs less water, which can be an advantage for certain sensitive plants. It will maintain a cleaner finish indoors and will be easier to clean. We draw your attention to the fact that glazed pots are less resistant to frost.
The pot in natural clay, unglazed, embodies the warm simplicity of raw material. Its porous surface allows better respiration of the roots and natural regulation of moisture. It ages over time, lives with its environment, and blends softly into gardens and terraces. Indoors, its aging might not be appreciated as it is more difficult to maintain. Its definition is a garden vase. It must be acknowledged that it will not remain as you purchased it.
