THE MANUFACTURE

In the shade of an olive tree or in the cool of the old walls, you will take the time to discover real know-how, to calmly choose your garden pot or your salad bowl.

After the war, their son Gilbert Ravel revived the activity. A complete craftsman, he modernized production and restarted hiring. In the 1980s, Jacques Ravel, trained at the Beaux-Arts, gave a new impetus to the company: he created the first collections of contemporary garden vases and evolved the techniques.

Today, Marion and Julie Ravel, daughters of Jacques, continue this rich family history. Faithful to the Provençal ceramic heritage, they position Poterie Ravel in a contemporary dynamic, blending artisanal creation, design, and sustainable local production.

THE STORY

SINCE 1837
MORE THAN 180 YEARS

The adventure of Poterie Ravel began in 1837, when François Fallen, a potter's son, left the family workshop to establish his own factory by the Huveaune river in Provence. From the beginning, the company rooted itself in the tradition of artisanal terracotta pottery.

In 1872, Marius Decroix, a young worker of 20, took over the factory. He expanded the production of tiles, while continuing the art of traditional pottery. Upon his death in 1909, his wife Pauline and their daughters Rose and Marguerite ensured continuity. Rose married Philogène Ravel, a passionate enthusiast of Greek history and a professional weaver. He introduced weaving to the workshop, blending two ancient arts: pottery and weaving.

KNOW-HOW

Located in Provence, Poterie Ravel is a French family business specializing in the artisanal production of terracotta pottery. Spread across two production sites covering more than 10,000 m², the factory controls all stages of production, from preparing the clay dough to firing, including traditional turning and molding.

Each year, more than 20,000 terracotta garden vases are handmade in the Ravel workshops. These unique pieces, crafted according to the rules of art, range from 10 cm to over one meter in height. Thanks to four high-performance kilns, firing at over 1000 degrees ensures the robustness and longevity of each creation, respecting the natural properties of the clay.

In addition to its production of outdoor containers, Poterie Ravel offers a wide collection of ceramic tableware: plates, dishes, pitchers, salad bowls, tians... With more than 300 references, each piece reflects the understated elegance and lasting quality that make the Ravel house renowned.

Designed to beautify both outdoor and indoor spaces, Ravel pottery combines authenticity, aesthetics, and durability. They are ideal for decor enthusiasts, landscape architects, restaurants, or hotels looking for unique pieces that are 100% made in France.

Each piece reflects the ceramic craftsmanship passed down through generations, designed to last and enhance all types of settings, from Mediterranean gardens to contemporary interiors. Poterie Ravel caters to both individuals and professionals seeking high-end, eco-friendly, and timeless artisanal creations.
